There are some very good brands like Nisan,Toyota,Maruti,Tata,Mahindra,Skoda,Fiat etc and lately they all have come up with some exclusive hatchbacks in India. Below is the list of cars showing a bit of comparison among them -
1. Toyota Etios Liva
There are five patrol variants in this car - J,G,G+,V and VX. There Showroom Prices ranges from 3.99 Lacs to 5.99 Lacs. As claimed by all the other companies, Toyota is also claiming an mileage of 18.1 km/litre for this car, however we all know how much these car gives in actual condition. This car gives an mileage of 12-13km/litre on road.
On Road Price for Basic Model - 3.99 lacs +7% of Showroom Price as Road Tax+10k Insurance(approx)+6k as Registration = 4.44 lacs (Approx)
2. Chevrolet Beat.
Showroom Price Range - Rs 3,55 Lacs - Rs 4,73 Lacs.Company is claiming an average of 24 km/litre however actual average is 16-18 km/litre.This car has 936 CC engine and that is the reason it got little higher mileage.
Chevrolet Beat Diesel is expected to be launched in India by next year first quater.
On Road Price for Basic Model = 3.35 lacs +7% of Showroom Price as Road Tax+10k Insurance(approx)+6k as Registration = 3.85 lacs (Approx).
3. Ford Figo.
There are 4 variants each in patrol and diesel variant Lxi,Vxi,Zxi, and Titanium.Showroom Price range - 3.59 lacs - 5.48 Lacs.
Forget about what company is claiming about its mileage, true figures are as follows- Patrol mileage is around 12 km/Litre and Diesel Variant will give 16km/L.
On Road Price for Basic Model - 3.59 lacs +7% of Showroom Price as Road Tax+10k Insurance(approx)+6k as Registration = 4.01 lacs (Approx).
4. Hyundai I-20.
There are 5 variants in Hyundai i-20 Patrol - Era,Magna,Sportz,Asta,Asta(O).Showroom Price Range - 4.58 Lacs - 5.93 Lacs.
Car Mileage is very poor and it is between 10-12 km/Litre. Also Car AC is not very effective.
On Road Price for Basic Model - 4.58 lacs +7% of Showroom Price as Road Tax+10k Insurance(approx)+6k as Registration = 5.01 lacs (Approx).
5. Nissan Micra
There are 4 variants in Micra patrol - XE, XE Plus, XL, XV.
Showroom Price Range - 4.10 Lacs - 5.38 Lacs.
Showroom Diesel Price Range - 5.77 Lacs - 6.22 Lacs.
Car mileage claimed by company is 18 km/L for petrol. However the actual on road mileage is 13-14 km/L. Car AC is really good and effective.
On Road Price for Basic Model - 4.10 lacs +7% of Showroom Price as Road Tax+10k Insurance(approx)+6k as Registration = 4.60 lacs (Approx).
6. Volkswagen Polo
There are 4 variants in Polo -Volkswagen Polo comes in 7 versions with 3 engine and 1 transmission options. Showroom Petrol Price Range - 4.34 Lacs - 5.72 Lacs.
Showroom Diesel Price Range - 5.32 Lacs - 6.70 Lacs
For Petrol variants on road average is 10-11 km/L , and for Diesel Variants mileage is about 15-16 km/L. Car AC is good and effective.
On Road Price for Basic Model - 4.34 lacs +7% of Showroom Price as Road Tax+10k Insurance(approx)+6k as Registration = 4.80 lacs (Approx).
7. FIAT GRAND PUNTO
Fiat Grande Punto comes in following 10 versions with 3 engine and 1 transmission options.
Showroom Petrol 1.2 Price Range - 4.41 Lacs - 5.01 Lacs.
Showroom Petrol 1.4 Price Range - 5.52 Lacs - 6.12 Lacs.
Showroom Diesel 1.3 Price Range - 5.25 Lacs - 6.95 Lacs
1.2 Variants have a mileage of 12-13 km/L on road.
1.4 Variants have a mileage of 09-10 km/L on road.
1.3 Variants have a mileage of 14-15 km/L on road.
This car is worth buying in terms of built quality, maintenance,AC,interiors,features etc. This car is awared twice as "BEST LOOKING HATCH IN INDIA". Only problem with Punto is resale.However if you not considerate about the resale then you should definitely give it a shot.
On Road Price for Basic Model - 4.41 lacs +7% of Showroom Price as Road Tax+10k Insurance(approx)+6k as Registration = 4.85 lacs (Approx).
*All the above figures are calculated by keeping 7% road tax, however road tax is different in different state for ex: road tax is 7% in delhi, it is 15% in Karnataka, and 1 % in Haryana, 7% in Tamil Nadu, so it is always cheaper to by it from the state which has lower road tax.
